A ShulCloud alternative

ShulCloud runs a great many congregations and does a great deal well. Here is what is actually different, including where it is still the better answer for you.

Compare the actual numbersHow the migration works

The migration has a definition of done

Moving systems usually ends with somebody saying the data is in. Ours ends with five checks that either tie to the cent or carry a variance your treasurer signed, and you read the report before you commit to anything.

Reconciliation › dry run 3 › not committed
Household opening balancesties
Open invoices, original dates keptties
Pledge balancesties
Fund totals by fiscal year$42.00 variance
Total receivable against QuickBooksties
Four tie. One does not, and it says so rather than showing a green tick. The $42.00 sits in the Building Fund between 5785 and 5786 and needs a person.

One price, every module

No tiers and no per-member pricing, so the yahrzeit reminders and the reconciliation are not on a plan you are not on. There are no feature gates in the code, which means there is nothing to withhold and no upgrade to be sold later.

Kehilo$299.00 a month
Every module. Every congregation, whatever size.
That is the whole list.

Drafting, not just storing

A gift arrives and the thank-you is written before anyone asks, in your voice, naming the fund and one true thing about the donor. The office reads it, changes what it wants and sends it. The weekly newsletter is drafted from your own calendar. Nothing goes out without a person clicking.

Dear Rachel,Drafted 14 October, waiting for the office

Thank you for your gift of $500 to the Building Fund. You gave to it last year as well, which the committee noticed, and the roof over the beit midrash is the part of the building it is paying for.

Your receipt is attached. No goods or services were provided in return.

Written from the records, not from a template with a name slotted into it. It still does not send until somebody presses send.

Hebrew is not an afterthought

Hebrew dates appear wherever a Gregorian date does. Hebrew and transliterated names are separate fields. Yahrzeits understand after sunset and which Adar, per family rather than per congregation. Nothing automated sends between Friday afternoon and Saturday evening.

Yahrzeit
אברהם בן יצחק
Avraham ben Yitzchak, stored in both fields, not one
Died2 Adar 5771
21 February 2011, after sunset, so the Hebrew day is the 3rd and not the 2nd
Observed3 Adar 5787
Shabbat 21 February 2027
5787 is a leap year. Adar I or Adar II, for this family?

Where ShulCloud is the better answer

You are happy and your stack is cheaper. Our calculator will tell you so, with a negative number. If what you have works, there is no money reason to move, and we would rather you read that on our own page than find it out later.

You need something we have not built yet. Cemetery plot management, donor levels, report cards and carpool, and the lobby kiosk are not in our first version. If one of those runs your week, wait for us or stay put.

You want a long track record. ShulCloud has one. We are new, and the honest thing to say about that is that you would be an early customer with everything that means, good and bad.

Put your own numbers in before you believe any of this.
